Red Rock Canyon Editorial- WPP1 2017- Las Vegas, Nevada- Fine Art Wedding Photography
March 8, 2017
Last month I finally stopped making excuses and attended my first WPPI in Las Vegas. All I can say is that I wish I had gone sooner! Wandering the expo floor and meeting people from some of the companies that I have been working with for years (while also discovering new ones) was such a fun experience.
It was surreal meeting Jose Villa at a slot machine in Ceaser’s Palace (total fan girl moment) and later following Mr. Fine Art himself around all week and listening to his talks. I probably hung out at the FIND Lab and Mastin Labs booths the most…I genuinely love those people! I got to meet film photographers from all over the country that I had previously only known online. I would even talk about Mastin Labs Karaoke but what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. 😉
The total highlight of my trip however was the shoot out at Red Rock Canyon that two of my favorite photographers, Jeremy Chou and Julie Paisley, put together. It was an absolute dream come true! I have traveled and photographed all around the world, but this was my first time in the desert and I was blown away.
Multicolored mountains, ethereal light, and a sunset unlike any other sunset I’ve ever seen made me feel like I was in a dream! The wind was strong, but the way the models’ dresses and silk boquet ribbons danced in the breeze only added to the magical feeling of the shoot!
We photographed four different models, all with their own gorgeous and unique looks. The legendary Janna Brown styled the looks and bouquets and Natalia Issa had all of the models absolutely glowing.
The first model that we worked with was Shelbi. She was stunning in her champagne Claire La Faye gown and beautiful makeup. The dramatic lip color that Natalia chose perfectly complimented the bold asymetrical bouquet, tied together with flowing Silk and Willow ribbons that Janna created.
Next up was Annelise who had a completely different but equally as beautiful look. She also wore Claire La Faye, although her gown was more sheer and form fitting and complimented her natural makeup and loose waves perfectly. This look would be amazing for an elopement.
Erin was our third model and I adored her! You’d never be able to tell that she isn’t a professional model, but she is actually a photographer who filled in for another model at the last minute. Erin was so fun to shoot and interact with and being a photographer herself, she knew what we were looking for. Erin wore an etherial Tara Lauren gown and her gorgeous bouquet echoed the “Pastel Horizons” theme.
Last but definitely not least were Diana and Aleks, a real life couple who looked like they had stepped straight out of a magazine. Diana is a STUNNING model with such gorgeous eyes and looked like a goddess in her Lovers and Friends gown and Silk and Willow sheer wrap. Aleks was so dapper in his suit by The Black Tux.
I am so incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to shoot along side my photography idols and work with so many incredible talents. I will forever be greatful for Julie and Jeremy putting this together and allowing a select few to join in capturing the magic!
